Weekly News Wrap Up (7/13 - 7/17)

Happy Friday, everyone! The weekend is here, and that also means it is time for the weekly wrap up of news. Once again, it has been a slow week for the games industry. I suspect it is the continuing fallout from Sony jumping headfirst into Lake Anti-Consumer, combined with the usual lull that occurs around this time every year.

Bethesda Confirms Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas Remasters

Speaking of Fallout (the good kind), Bethesda just posted an update on their website with news about their games. In addition to working on Fallout 5, Bethesda confirmed that remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in the works. No other information has been provided at this time, but it is always good to have an official confirmation rather than relying on rumors found on the internet.

While I am curious to see what they will do with Fallout 5, I am especially excited for Fallout 3 Remastered. I may be in the minority here, but Fallout 3 was my favorite game in the series. I just hope that these remasters aren't abandoned in the same way that Oblivion Remastered was left to rot in the corner with countless unfixed bugs. Just because the community will make mods to fix bugs doesn't mean that developers should rely on that. It isn't worth the expenditure of goodwill in the long term.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Has Gone Gold

Earlier this week, it was announced that the remake of the first Halo game has gone gold. For those unfamiliar with this term, it means that the game is finished and is ready for release. Halo: Campaign Evolved releases on July 28th, and if you purchased the Premium or Collector's Edition, you get to play the game on the 23rd.

While I am curious to see how Halo runs on UE5, I am also interested to see how the game will do without a competitive multiplayer mode. I will be doing a review for this game, so stay tuned!
