Weekly News Wrap Up (7/06 - 7/10)
There hasn't been a whole lot of news this week other than even more layoffs.
Welcome to another edition of Weekly News Wrap Up! I apologize for the missing post last week. These past few weeks have been difficult with some real-life issues I have been facing. I am hoping that I will be able to have more consistent posts going forward. We are still on schedule to have the first episode of Overmodded release next week, so stay tuned for that.
There hasn't been a whole lot of news this past week other than even more layoffs. I suppose the industry wants to let the dust settle a bit after Sony decided to do away with physical discs. As we get closer to San Diego Comic Con and Gamescom later this summer, I am sure there will be more news. But until then, let's focus on what happened this week along with what games have come out.
XBOX Restructuring Results in Layoffs
Xbox has been making a great deal of effort to restructure. Unfortunately, they decided that the best way to do that was by laying off over 1,600 employees. There will be another 1,600 expected to be let go later this year. Several studios were severely impacted by this, especially at id Software.
One part of their restructuring efforts includes reducing the layers of management. Per the message sent out to the entirety of XBOX, they will be reducing layers of management down to 5. Asha Sharma, the CEO of XBOX, promised that none of the first-party games they have announced are going to be cancelled as a result of the restructuring.
It always sucks when people lose their jobs. The people who pour their blood, sweat, and tears into the development of these games are always the first to suffer as management flounders around and wastes money.
Game Releases
While there are always new games coming out, here are a few noteworthy ones to consider.

While Buckshot Roulette has been out for a few years now, it has finally made its way to XBOX and XBOX Game Pass this week on July 8th.

Palworld 1.0 (Steam, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X/S, MacOS) - $29.99
After being in early access for over two years, Palworld 1.0 is finally available despite all of Nintendo's efforts to block the game with blatant misuse of copyright law. If you purchased Palworld during its Early Access period, you get 1.0 for free. There is also a sale on Steam, so Palworld is currently $20.99 if you haven't purchased it yet.
